MWD Flow Rate Calculator

This a tool to determine the flow rate of polymerization solution in a semi-batch timed quenching system required to generate a targeted molecular weight distribution. Specific details regarding the implementation of the reactor system may be found in the corresponding publication. In order to use this tool, there are three required pieces of data.

  • Traces: A set of GPC measured time points that show the evolution in the MWD of a polymerization over time.
  • Design: The desired MWD that will by synthesized using the design procedure.
  • Volume: The total volume desired to be transferred using the semi-batch reactor. This should generally be slightly less than the total polymerization volume.

1The .csv files should have two columns with no headers or footers. The left column should hold the retention times while the right column should hold the intensities.

2Every time point should have the same concentration of polymer chains. In that case, all the weights should be zero. If not, the time points can be modified with the weight parameter. For example, if a time point has half the concentration, its weight value should be two.
